    Event: Biological Hazard
Location: Sweden Vastra Götaland County Falkoping

Situation: A large number of dead birds were found in the city of Falköping, Sweden, on Tuesday night and Wednesday morning, according to the Swedish National Veterinary Institute. Autopsies were performed on five of the birds. The institute said they died due to "sudden, hard external blows," according to its website. They had no signs of infection or other illnesses, and there were no external signs indicating what killed them. "We have determined that the birds have died from severe internal bleedings caused by external blows," said the institute's Marianne Elvander. A similar unusual incident occurred in Arkansas on New Year's Eve. Thousands of red-winged blackbirds and starlings were found dead over a square-mile area in the town of Beebe. In a separate incident, some 500 red-winged blackbirds, starlings and sparrows were found dead Monday morning in the southern Louisiana community of Labarre.

RECENT WORLD WIDE! DEAD BIRDS AND FISH! THEY ARE EVERYWHERE!

I first took an interest in this back in 2009, I went for a walk on the beach and filmed this, I couldn't believe what I saw! Take a look.

Millions of dead starfish, crabs and other small sea life washed up on Dutch coast, 08/09/09
I walked for miles and the dead star fish and crabs and sea erchins never ended!

January 2, 2011 Arkansas cities and towns in heaven, there are more than 1000 blackbirds fell to the ground from the sky, and they were dead! American executive confusion Wildlife Service out of the sky Why do dead birds, also lost so much

Yesterday morning, the king master walking to work, an eagle suddenly hit him and died. Drop from birds, such a small probability event, most recently in Geleshan sporadic, and continued for months. Birds out of the sky is only the beginning, but now even the eagle fell, residents began to unrest, why do so scary?

Forestry University, Harbin, thousands of sparrows in the woods near death, is said to be frozen to death

We know that birds navigate by the magnetic field, only the magnetic field changes, and the birds will be lost fall,

Migratory birds rely on the body's "biological compass" to determine the direction is "open secret", but it is not clear how the perception of the magnetic field of birds.

"Nobody knows it (the magnetic induction system) to work," Patterson said Murray, "magnetic induction principle is that people understand the nature, at least so far the (principle)."

How long migratory birds perceive the magnetic field on two main points. One view is that the birds beak cells can sense the Earth's magnetic field and pass the message through the nervous system to the brain; another point of view, birds eye in the photoreceptor cells can "see" the magnetic field, and the information through another way to the brain is referred to as "N clusters" light processing area.

Specific proteins in migratory birds eye "cryptochrome" Maybe this is the light-dependent magnetic field sensing of the media. Light stimulation of this protein produced a pair of free radicals, free radicals can be carried by the electron spin may be able to perceive the special properties of Earth's magnetic field.

In general, the magnetic elements of change is very small, but with the solar activity and geomagnetic storms are closely related phenomena, but it happened very suddenly. This is because the intense sunspot activity, when the energy released is equivalent to some one hundred thousand hydrogen bomb blast, while a large number of charged particles ejected. These charged particles hitting the Earth forming a powerful magnetic field to the magnetic field superposition, so that under normal circumstances, the magnetic elements changed dramatically, causing "magnetic storms." Occurs when the magnetic storm on Earth many strange phenomena occur. Over the North Pole in the dark there will be a beautiful aurora. The compass will swing, short-wave radio broadcasts suddenly, relying on the magnetic field "navigation" will be lost pigeons, flying around. To cosmic rays and magnetic fields can stop high-energy charged particles from the sun is harmful organisms from the natural umbrella.

There may be and the polarity of the magnetic field changes related to conversion, according to Indian newspaper reports, Hyderabad (Hyderabad), a company in 2012, researchers predicted that the Earth and the Sun's magnetic poles will reverse. Earth's magnetic reversal Earth's magnetic field is the occurrence of the Arctic and Antarctic swap, in the course of the earth will experience at some point in time there is no magnetic field in the state.

Such things not recorded in human history, so its impact can only be through computer simulation. Hyderabad model based on the Earth and the Sun's magnetic field can be made in addition to the conversion

Migratory birds into the power failure and lost the ability to identify the direction, there are other serious consequences, including:
    - All animals, including the human immune system will be significantly weakened.

    - changes in the crust will be more frequent volcanic and more intense tectonic movements, earthquakes and landslides.

    - weakening the magnetic field caused by cosmic rays have greatly increased, due to radioactive contamination will cause more cancer.

    - asteroids may be more accessible to the Earth.

    - changes in Earth's gravity field.

All these may be added together, not difficult to find civilization, 2012, Earth will be threatened. They also speculated that a similar event in the distant past have occurred on Mars.

Flock Of Birds Found Dead In Wilson County

Wildlife Agent Says Birds Died 5-6 Days Ago

    Reported By Deanna Lambert
    POSTED: 3:27 pm CST January 5, 2011
    UPDATED: 5:28 pm CST January 6, 2011
LEBANON, Tenn. -- Add Middle Tennessee to the list of places where flocks of birds have shown up dead. Earlier in the week, birds were found dead in Arkansas, Louisiana, Kentucky and Texas. Related: Images | Video: Flocks Of Birds Found Dead In Middle Tenn.
Now, more that 100 dead birds were recently found in Wilson County, causing the Tennessee Wildlife Resources Agency to investigate.A resident notified the agency Tuesday afternoon after he spotted dozens of dead birds along Highway 70 north in Lebanon a few days ago.“It’s kind of a strange, odd thing. It plays into some of the things that have been happening in other places,” said Lt. Jim Hooper of the Tennessee Wildlife Resources Agency.TWRA officials found 120 dead grackles in the Spring Creek area when they investigated the situation on Wednesday.“We searched the adjoining fields and everywhere else, and there are no other birds except in this one very localized area,” said Hooper. “The birds have definitely been dead 5 or 6 days."Over the past week, several hundred different black birds have turned up dead in at least four other states. But the question of exactly how these birds turned up dead in Lebanon could remain a mystery.“The fact they have been dead that long, we're not going to be able to really be able to do any toxicology for finding out cause of death or possibly chemicals like that because they have been dead so long,” said Hooper.Could Tennessee's dead birds be connected to ones in other states?“No one knows because we've not heard anything out of the other states as to the cause of the death of some of those birds. Without being able to do toxicology on these, we really don't know what caused these birds to die,” said Hooper.A TWRA biologist said his theory is that the birds, which travel in a flock of more than a thousand at a time, possibly could have been flying at night and hit power lines along Highway 70. He said the trauma from hitting the power lines may have knocked them out or broke bones, causing their death. If the public sees a large number of dead birds, like 30 to 50, call the TWRA at 615-781-6622 as soon as possible. The quicker they are notified, the earlier they can check and test the birds to learn why they are dying.A few weeks ago a group of dead birds were also found near the Hobson Pike Bridge in Davidson County.

Dead Birds Reported by Residents in Southern Illinois

Dead birds falling from the sky have made headlines in Arkansas, Kentucky and Louisiana, but residents around Marion, Illinois have also found dead birds in recent days. A cluster of households in the same family that

living close together in rural Marion reported finding dead birds in their yards around the same time as the Beebe, AR dead birds.

While these findings have not made national news, they have sparked interest in my own community. The three households are family members of mine and while one aunt found dead birds earlier in December, my parents and uncle found dozens of dead birds during the last week of December.

My aunt stated that after finding the birds in her yard in early December, she contacted local wildlife authorities and was told that the birds had most likely been poisoned. While it is possible (this is a farming community and birds can be a nuisance for farmers who respond by putting out poisons), it makes you wonder when there have been more widespread reports of dead birds in other locations.

Speculation has been high that the dead birds are connected to the New Madrid Seismic Zone, which southern Illinois sits directly on. Another reporting of dead birds came from Gilbertsville, KY which is located approximately 80 miles from Marion.

While there is no way of knowing if these events are connected or if they have anything to do with an impending earthquake along the New Madrid fault, they do raise questions about the potential for natural disaster. Residents should indeed be aware of the history of the area of the New Madrid fault and be prepared for possible earthquakes.

The United States Geological Survey published a report in August 2009 regarding the continuing concern about a devastating earthquake in the New Madrid Seismic Zone. Such an earthquake would most likely affect the cities of St. Louis, MO, Memphis, TN and Little Rock, AR as well as surrounding areas.

Regardless, the dead birds cropping up in locations like Marion, IL have residents nervous and concerned.

KFWR official: Hundreds of dead birds found in Murray

[IMG] TOM BERRY / Ledger & Times As many as several hundred dead birds were reported fallen from the sky in the Calloway Street area near Murray State University for an as yet unknown reason. The sighting may be similar to those reported in Arkansas and Louisiana last week. The incident is under investigation by Kentucky Fish and Wildlife officials.

KFWR official: Hundreds of dead birds found in Murray By TOM BERRY • Staff Writer Murray Ledger & Times | 0 comments
A phenomena resulting in thousands of dead birds reported mysteriously fallen dead from the sky in Arkansas and Louisiana last week may have also taken place in Murray.
Kentucky Fish and Wildlife Resources officials reported ‘several hundred’ grackles, red wing blackbirds, robins and starlings were among those reported near Murray State University. The birds were primarily found in the Calloway Street, Ryan Avenue and College Terrace area.
Tony Black, a spokesman for KFWR, said the department received the report last week, took specimens and ordered some testing.
“We did find some dead birds most of which were roosting-type species,” Black said. “We did have some specimens sent off for testing. Poisoning has been ruled out, but outside of that it’s kind of up-in-the-air right now until we know the results.”
Sometimes there are natural die-offs with some of these migratory birds this time of year due to weather conditions, but other than that it’s kind of new to us too. We’re just waiting in test results,” he added.
KDFW spokesman Mark Marraccini said someone in Murray called police about the discovery and police alerted state officials, according to the AP report. Tracy Guge, a spokeswoman for the Murray Police Department, said the reports originated in the Calloway Street area.
A similar incident was reported in Marshall County, according to news reports. Murray State University officials said they knew of the incident, but not enough in detail to comment, according to MSU News Bureau manager Sherry McClain.
Marraccini also said tests performed on the birds ruled out diseases or poison as the cause of death. He said the deaths could have been caused by weather conditions or another natural event
In Arkansas, New Year's Eve fireworks has so far been blamed for causing the deaths of thousands of blackbirds in central Arkansas making national headlines, according to an Associated Press report Wednesday. Roughly 5,000 red-winged blackbirds fell over a mile of land near Beebe, a small town in northwest Arkansas. Observers also spotted a large number of fish dead in a stream near the town of Ozark. In a statement Saturday morning, the Arkansas Game and Fish Commission quoted staff ornithologist Karen Rowe as saying that such events have happened before around the world.
“Test results usually were inconclusive, but the birds showed physical trauma and that the flock could have been hit by lightning or high-altitude hail.”
Soon after the Arkansas report, about 500 red-winged blackbirds were found along a stretch of highway in Louisiana and both fish and birds were reported fallen in Sweden, according to news reports.

    Mysterious bird deaths hit Sweden

Dozens of dead birds have been found lying in a residential street in Sweden, days after thousands of birds fell to their deaths in the US. Police in the town of Falkoeping have told Swedish media that between 50 and 100 jackdaws had died.
Some are said to have been hit by cars but others have no visible injuries.
Parallels have been drawn with the mysterious death of about 3,000 red-winged blackbirds in the US state of Arkansas on New Year's Eve.
Veterinary officials told Swedish radio that the case in Falkoeping was rare although they said there could be a number of reasons such as "disease or poisoning".
Aftonbladet newspaper quoted one resident, Drilon Hulaj, who said that as he drove home late on Tuesday night the street in front of him was dotted with "hundreds of dead birds".
Mr Hulaj said he had been immediately reminded of the events in the town of Beebe, Arkansas. Scientists have said the blackbirds there may have been affected by fireworks.
There have been no reports of fireworks or storms in Falkoeping at the time.

UPSHUR COUNTY, TX (KLTV) - A large number of dead birds spotted on the Hwy 155 bridge near Ore City is most likely a natural occurrence in the area and not related to the mysterious bird deaths in Arkansas and Louisiana.
According to Texas Parks and Wildlife Department's Media Communication Director, Tom Harvey, it is not uncommon to see dozens of dead birds on this bridge, including the American Coots here.
The Corps of Engineers office at Lake O' the Pines says they are not exactly sure why this happens, but it appears likely the birds are walking or roosting or flying on and around the bridge and many of them probably get hit and killed by motor vehicles.
The American Coots, which roost under the bridge, are prey for eagles and spook easily. When spooked they fly out from under the bridge in large masses, which explains why such a large number birds could be hit at one time.
Greg Conley, a TPWD staffer, said he has seen a similar situation involving multiple dead birds on bridges and roadways around Lake Fork. So, this appears to be a normal occurrence, not related to the Arkansas "birds falling from the sky" story.
"To my knowledge, there are no bird kills in Texas related to the Arkansas situation," said, Mr. Harvey.

For Arkansas Blackbirds, the New Year Never Came

    By CAMPBELL ROBERTSON

Times Square had the ball drop, and Brasstown, N.C., had its descending possum. But no place had a New Year’s Eve as unusual, or freakishly disturbing, as Beebe, Ark.

On Monday, more dead birds were found near New Roads, La.

Thousands of red-winged blackbirds fell dead from the sky in Beebe, Ark., on New Year’s Eve. They may have been startled by fireworks, officials say.

A worker with U.S. Environmental Services, a private contractor, picked up a dead bird on Saturday.

Around 11 that night, thousands of red-winged blackbirds began falling out of the sky over this small city about 35 miles northeast of Little Rock. They landed on roofs, roads, front lawns and backyards, turning the ground nearly black and terrifying anyone who happened to be outside.
“One of them almost hit my best friend in the head,” said Christy Stephens, who was standing outside among the smoking crowd at a party. “We went inside after that.”
The cause is still being determined, but preliminary lab results from the Arkansas Livestock and Poultry Commission revealed “acute physical trauma” in samples of the dead birds. There were no indications of disease, though tests were still being done for the presence of toxic chemicals.
Karen Rowe, the bird conservation program coordinator for the Arkansas Game and Fish Commission, said the prevailing theory was that the birds had been startled by New Year’s Eve fireworks and suddenly dispersed, flying low enough to run into chimneys, houses and trees. Pyrotechnics are used to scatter blackbirds for bird control, though only during the day, given the birds’ poor vision.
Beebe (pronounced BE-be) is a congregating spot for blackbirds, and one witness told Ms. Rowe that he saw the birds roosting earlier in the day and heard them again at night just after the fireworks started.
“It was the right mix of things happening in a perfect time sequence,” Ms. Rowe said.
At most recent count, up to 5,000 birds fell on the city. Sixty five samples were sent to labs, one of which is at the Livestock and Poultry Commission and the other in Madison, Wis.
Keith Stephens, a spokesman for the commission, said he was not aware of a case this large. “About nine years ago we had some ducks,” he said, “but that was only a couple of dozen.”
The town contacted an environmental cleanup firm, which by Monday afternoon had picked up nearly all the birds, some of which were bagged and left at the end of driveways by residents.
“It just looked as if it had rained birds,” said Tracy Lightfoot, a member of the City Council, declining to speculate on the reason. “There’s lots of theories running around. I have no idea. I just don’t have a clue.”
State scientists believe one thing to be almost certain: that the bird deaths were not related to the roughly 85,000 fish that died a few days before near Ozark, in the western part of the state, the biggest fish kill in Arkansas that anyone can remember. They were spotted by anglers along the Arkansas River last week and reported to the Game and Fish Commission, which spent New Year’s Eve measuring and counting dead fish that had spread out for nearly 20 miles.
In that case, the victims were almost all drum, and almost all younger ones. That suggests the culprit was disease, said Mark Oliver, the chief of fisheries for the commission. He said fish kills were not uncommon, especially in winter when the fish are packed more closely, but he did not recall one of this size.
Meanwhile roughly 500 dead birds were found on Monday outside New Roads, La. Those birds were much more varied, with starlings and grackle in addition to blackbirds, and a few samples picked up by James LaCour, a wildlife veterinarian with the Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries, did not show any signs of trauma, he said.

Woman reports dozens of dead birds in her yard

    Reporter - Lauren Adams

Story Created: Jan 3, 2011 at 5:24 PM CST
Story Updated: Jan 3, 2011 at 5:59 PM CST

GILBERTSVILLE, Ky. — Near her car, a dead bird. A quick walk to her mailbox, another. Scattered across her front yard, a local woman discovered dozens of dead birds.

"I've never seen anything like it. Never," Sandy said of the discovery.

Sandy, who asked we not share her last name, first noticed the birds several days ago but cleaned them up, not thinking twice.

"I have outdoor pets and just assumed they were bringing them from around the neighborhood."

But when she noticed more birds Monday morning, she panicked, "I had just seen the story on the news about the birds in Arkansas and I was scared."

In fact, 3,000 blackbirds seemed to fall from the sky there- starting last Friday. Autopsies have since ruled out poisoning. One top biologist from Cornell University said the birds were "....probably asleep in a single tree when a washing machine-type thunderstorm sucked them up into the air, disoriented them, and even fatally soaked and chilled them."

Sandy was not sure what had lead the birds to her yard.

But, off the bat, wildlife biologist Kent Ozment said he was not too concerned.

"These birds are in the millions right now. Six birds out of a million really isn't that many."

While he couldn't say for sure, he guessed the birds simply succumbed to the elements, "Probably it was just some sort of winter stress."

While Sandy said she was releived to know it was nature-related, she still shuddered at the discovery.
    "It's really creepy."

Local 6 checked in with several other fish and wildlife outlets and even some of Sandy's neighbors. No other birds have been discovered or reported.

    Dead pelican count escalates

    TOPSAIL VOICE

    By Connie Pletl

Published: Wednesday, December 22, 2010 3:05 PM EST

TOPSAIL ISLAND – Over 100 dead pelicans have been found along the beaches of Topsail Island within the past month with injuries that suggest they were intentionally killed.

“I don’t believe they died naturally,” said North Carolina Wildlife Resources Commission Law Enforcement Officer Doug Jones.

The birds have been mutilated and harmed in such ways as being stabbed, cut, shot, tendons sliced, decapitated and their wings cut off.

“These are not accidental deaths,” said Jones. “They are malicious and deliberate.”

The NC Wildlife Resources Commission has taken the lead in investigating the deaths and is looking for those responsible.

“Officers are working daily to gather information that will lead to the arrest and charges against the individual or individuals responsible,” said Jones.

In addition, the US Fish and Wildlife Agency has offered its assistance.

“It is a state and a federal offense to harm these protected birds,” said Jones.

Local law enforcement officials and sheriff’s offices are also helping with the investigation.

“I can’t say enough good things about the officers in North Topsail Beach, Surf City and Topsail Beach,” said Deborah Woody, a volunteer at Possumwood Acres Wildlife Sanctuary.

“The Onslow County Sheriff’s Office is also taking this very seriously,” said Woody.

The volunteers at Possumwood Acres have been picking up the dead and injured birds.

Injured ones are either humanely euthanized or considered for possible rehabilitation.

The dead ones are catalogued and stored, then taken to the University of Georgia where they will be documented.

The documentation will be used as evidence once the person or people responsible for the deaths has been arrested.

A few dead pelicans have been found as far north as Atlantic Beach and as far south as Oak Island but the majority have been located at the northern end of Topsail Island.

“The greatest concentration of birds have been found north of the SeaView Pier in North Topsail Beach,” said Woody.

While finding a few dead pelicans during the winter months is common, the numbers that are currently being found are outside of the range of what is normal.

Woody said that anywhere between 15 and 30 birds are found each year that have died due to accidental causes such as encounters with fishing vessels or nets.

“It’s escalated tremendously. It’s taking place offshore and they are coming in with the current and the tide,” said Woody.

Authorities are also worried about the impact the deaths will have on the nesting season.

Audubon North Carolina issued a statement about the deaths.

“We are appalled by this news,” stated Walker Golder, Acting Co-Executive Director of Audubon North Carolina. “The pelicans appear to have been intentionally harmed by someone and we hope wildlife enforcement officials will be able to capture the person(s) responsible. I hope that beachgoers will stay alert for more pelicans in distress and report dead or injured wildlife to the North Carolina Wildlife Resources Commission. We hope that pressure from concerned citizens and wildlife officials will halt these senseless acts.”

A reward for information about the pelican deaths and injuries has been increased to over $5,000.

Anyone with information about the pelicans or wildlife violations should call the NC Wildlife Resources Commission at 1-800-662-7137.

Anyone finding a dead or injured pelican should contact the police in the area in which it was found: North Topsail Beach 328-0042; Surf City 328-7711, Topsail Beach 328-4851.

Crime Stoppers will also take any tips or information at 1-910-938-3273.

Japan on alert after finding dead birds

    Published: Jan. 3, 2011 at 11:08 PM

TOKYO, Jan. 3 (UPI) -- Recent discovery of several dead migratory birds in Japan has raised concerns about H5NI avian influenza, avian experts said.
Bird sanctuaries, poultry farms and zoos were put on high alert last month after the migratory birds in some region were found dead, The New York Times reported Monday.
The Times cited Japanese media reports collected by ProMED, which monitors disease outbreaks. The reports included one that a hooded crane was found dead on the Izumi Plain in Kagoshima Prefecture in southern Japan, the largest wild crane wintering site and the nation's leading poultry-raising area.
The reports said 23 birds were found dead following a search in Tottori in the north. The birds were being tested.
In Toyama Prefecture, also in the north, a dead mute swan led to inspections of nearby poultry farms. In Hyogo Prefecture on Japan's Inland Sea, officials decided to stop displaying white storks, a national treasure, to prevent exposure to any likely infected wild birds.
